Merry Christmas from our Little Miracle!

Does this cat look traumatized?  Well, she should.  Today one week ago we were leaving to go to a Christmas party and she ran under the car.  She had gotten into a habit of doing that.  We thought she had run out and when we pulled away we felt a bump in the road.  Immediately my hubby and I knew what had just happened.  We told the kids to stay in the car and not to look.  What does little man do...he starts looking!  Little lady sat back and did exactly as told.  They are so different. :)  Anyways, when we got out to see how bad she was, there was no blood!  She looked normal except I could tell her tail end had been hurt badly.  In my mind I thought she has to die.  I mean she is so little and this huge car just went over her.  We immediately took her to the vet.  It was Sunday night at 5pm and they were open!  Then we had to take her to another place to get an x-ray.  She didn't have any broken bones!!  I couldn't believe it.  The vet told us all we could do was watch and see if she could go to the bathroom.  And yes she did that the next day and the next and has been going all week. He was kind enough to give her some heavy duty pain injections and some pills to take home.

Poor little thing was just recovering from being "fixed" and then a car runs over her.  She is still her sweet loving little self.  She is our little miracle kitty and are so thankful she is still here with us.

It has been hard for the kids to understand she is really hurt.  She looks normal except when she walks.  They are not allowed to hold her or pick her up after I found they had put her in a bucket and hung her in a tree four days after the accident!  kids!

Happenings

I don't really get on here any more and just post about daily life here.  So today is a post about our week.  I feel like we live in a mini America because life is so fast paced!  I can't figure out where my time goes. Hubby usually leaves between 8 and 8:30 to head to the office.  The kids and I usually start school around the same time.  We have one vehicle so the kids and I are stuck at home while Hubby is away.  That is a good thing because I save money that way and I come home with animals when he lets me have the car.  :)  On days that I really want the car I can take him to work or he catches a ride with someone.  We have several families here in our neighborhood, so carpooling is convenient.  Hubby is also working on getting his motorcycle license and we are going to buy our friend's motorcycle.  It is not the safest or greatest option but at least it will give me a couple of days with the car.  Our friend is selling his motorcycle after breaking his arm on it!  I wonder if we are just crazy or have lived overseas too long! :) 

We have needed to get our driver's license for awhile now.  Yesterday we scheduled out time to go and do it.  We thought we had all our paperwork in order.  Once we found the building and finally found the right person to go to we realized that one of the papers was not the original and they had to have the original.  So they sent us to immigration at a completely different place!  When we walked in there must have been a hundred people there and it was only a little after 8:30!  I thought we were going to be there all day.  It only took about an hour and we were on our way back to the DL place.  Once we got all our paperwork turned in, Hubby had to go and make double copies because he was getting a car and motorcycle license.  We had to take some silly tests and then I was on my way to getting my license.  Hubby had to go and watch a long boring movie and come back later to take a motorcycle test.  I thought he was awful brave to take a test when he has never been on a bike before!  I had no problems getting my license because I still have a week until my Texas one expires and that made it easy.
So, today is the next day and Hubby still needs to test on a motorcycle and on a car because his Texas license is expired!!!  Last night he was so frustrated.  This weekend he is going to practice driving a motorcycle and go back and test again.  But, I am now legal and can get the Thai citizen discounts on all the fun touristy places now.  We live about 5 minutes from the Night Safari and we have been once about two years ago.  We are dying to go back and now we can for cheap!

The whole time we were getting our DL I was sick!  I have had fever, body aches, sore throat and a cough.  We came home about noon and I took meds and headed to bed.  I slept most of the afternoon and felt a little better.  Since I wasn't feeling well, we went up to the local market to eat dinner!  I can't believe how cheap it was.  We all ate for about $6 and even got two banana rotis.  I even found black eyed peas from a little man.  I was so excited!  So now I know what one thing will be for dinner tonight!

Home school is calling my name or at least a kid who is suppose to be home schooling....better go!

Distracted Christian Mothers

Go here to A Wise Woman Builds Her Home to read about how distracted we as mothers often become living in this day and age.  This is so true of my life at this point. I find myself getting lost on the internet while my children, who will be this age only a short time, need and want my attention. This week I want to be disciplined to only be on the computer while the children are away at school. We only have 5 days left!  Whoohoo!  Anyways, back to my computer time.  Over the next five days I will only be on the computer when they are at school or after they go to bed. Once school is out I will have to evaluate our schedule and see where it will be feasible for me to spend time on the computer.  I want to spend more time reading with my kids.  They love it and it is a great way to be together.   

If Not You...Then Who?

Wow, today's reading was well worth it. It is so true that if we as mothers and fathers don't teach our kids someone else will. This was a good reminder of my responsibility and job as the mother of my children. What a responsibility, but what a joy! Go over to A Wise Woman Builds Her Home to read. Enjoy!

Yes, it is locked. I want it that way. It is not broken. I am not trapped.
I know I have left it unlocked, and even open at times since you were born, because I was afraid some horrible tragedy might occur while I was in there, but it's been 10 years and I want some PRIVACY.
Do not ask me how long I will be. I will come out when I am done.
Do not bring the phone to the bathroom door.
Do not go running back to the phone yelling: "She's in the BATHROOM!"
Do not begin to fight as soon as I go in.
Do not stick your little fingers under the door and wiggle them. This was only funny when you were two.
Do not slide pennies, Legos, or notes under the door. Even when you were
two, this got a little tiresome.
If you have followed me down the hall talking, and are still talking as you face this closed door, please turn around, walk away and wait for me in another room. I will be glad to listen to you when I am done.
