"Wow, Jesus sure talked a lot!" Sassy after opening up her Bible for her morning reading in Matthew.

Bragging
I have a pet peeve...when people brag constantly on their children. You know the parents who are always talking about how wonderful their kids are in school, how smart they are and how much better than they are than others. I love my children and of course I think they are the most wonderful little people the Lord ever created but I really try hard not to constantly put that into people's faces. (except to the grandparents of course) I do try to praise them and tell them how wonderful I think they are, just not to everyone in the world. I want to build them up but only so they know who they are in the Lord.
But now I am going to be a hypocrit...I am going to brag!
Today I woke up and had the most horrible miagraine. I took some medicine and by 9am I was back in bed asleep. Hubby had to go to a meeting this morning, so a couple hours later when I woke up Little Lady and Little Man were both working independently on their school work. No one was there telling them they had to do it, they just took the initiative to do it on their own. Little man had prepared me a large glass of cold water and drawn me a sweet picture and placed both next to my bed.
I was so touched at how sweet they were. Little Man came to me several times today and hugged and kissed me! How I so want this stage to last! So there, I am bragging to the world wide web, I think my kids are awesome and am so thankful for them!

Friends
Hubby looked into Little Ladies room this morning and she was no where to be found. He looked in the living room and she wasn't there. This is where he found her...right next to her brother. Little man has decided he likes sleeping on the floor on a small mattress we have. So here they are both crowded onto this small mattress with one pillow, but content and comfortable. They are each other's best friend!

Conversation Between Little Lady and Little Man
After seeing our neighbors cute little puppy....
Little Lady: When I grow up I am going to get a dog like that.
Little Man: Your husband has to say it is ok.
Little Lady: I will get it when he is gone.
Earlier in the day I was teasing Hubby about going and buying an air conditioner while he is out of town over the next two weeks. I guess I shouldn't say things like that....it carried over into the kid's conversation. Oops!

Today was a holiday for the kids. Boy did we enjoy it! Since Little Man was sick yesterday we celebrated today. We threw in a little swimming too.

The water was just a tad cold. Can you tell by the look on her face?

She knows what is coming....cold water!
There she goes!

Little Lady is in more of the pictures because after only one jump into the pool Little Man cut his toe on the bricks. I had to take him up and bandage him up and told him he couldn't swim anymore. :(
Little Lady only lasted for a couple of jumps and then she decided the water wasn't quite warm enough.
After swimming we went to Chili's to get chips, salsa and dessert.

Oh NO, I didn't let my most well mannered child lick her plate in public! Nor did I lick my own plate that had chocolate and caramel all over it! Really, caramel and chocolate are not worth embarrassing my hubby over.

It was a wonderful day of time together!

Birthday continued
Little lady's birthday was on a Monday, so on the following Saturday we had a party. I wanted this to be a special party because we had to pretty much skip the party thing last year since we had only been in country for a week or so. LL loves animals and at one point said she wanted to be a vet. I thought what a fun idea for a party. I emailed a lady who use to live here and is know for her parties! She emailed me a ton of ideas they had used for her daughter party five years before. It was a huge blessing...she had already done all the work! When we sent out the invitations we asked each girl to bring their favorite animal to the party. When they arrived we gave them a name tag and a medical booklet to begin doctoring their animals. Hubby took a picture of them with their animals to put into their books.

We ate Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches with chips and Koolaid. We then played a game called Guess the Missing Animal. I had a tray with lots of small plastic animals and I let them spend some time looking and then I took a couple away. They had to guess what two animals were missing. It was hard!
We played "Hot Dog" with music. When the music stopped whoever was holding the hot dog was out.
One other activity that my friend gave me was called Match the Foot Prints. They had to match the animal to the prints. They broke up into teams to do this one.
Then we had a Pet Show. My sweet friend Peggy came and help me judge the animals. She read the biographies that the girls had written in their books and gave awards based on those. We had most traveled, oldest, newest, fluffiest for a few of the award! The girls really liked this. I gave award ribbons for these awards.

I think one of the most fun parts of the party was the animal cookie decorating we did. I didn't make a cake or cupcakes, but made sugar cookies in the shape of animals. I made several different colors of icing and let them go crazy with it. Of course we had fun sprinkes too!! I did have Hubby go and buy one piece of cake at the local bakery to put candles in. ;)

We opened presents and then went outside and play "capture the tail."
Here are the doctor's bags I had made to put their doctor's kits in. They took them home as party favors.

I have been needing to blog some photos of Little Lady's birthday...so here they are. :)
She woke up and had cinnamon rolls for her birthday breakfast. We let her open a present which was a stuffed wolf.

Then she was excited to wear her Sari to school. She normally wears a uniform to school so this was a treat to wear "fun" birthday clothes.

For lunch that day I took Dominos pizza and strawberry cupcakes with strawberry icing to her class. (Thanks to a sweet friend for the care package!)

My Baby Girl

This time nine years ago I was checking into the hospital to deliver you, my sweet angel! You were already a week past your "due" date and there was no hint of you budging. I couldn't stand it. I wanted to meet my daughter so bad! It was a rough night of no sleep and lots of sickness, but when morning came they moved me to a nice big room and administered the ever so wonderful epidural! The nurse was just a saint in my eyes, she told me that with or without the epidural I would still get the same prize in the end. And that I did get, my sweet little black eyed and black haired, Little Lady! You came out so calm and without a sound. In fact, after about 10 minutes of them trying to get you to cry the nurse finally had to spank your feet several time to get you to cry! Your first spanking, and it was for being so good and quiet! You were beautiful. Your daddy got to hold you first and he was speechless. Then I got to look in those big beautiful eyes and it was love immediately. You can never describe that moment to someone, it just has to be felt. You were such an easy baby to care for! When your little brother came along, not long after you, you loved and were so sweet as a big sister. You still are! You have been a joy and delight these past 9 years and I am so thankful you are a child of God! This has been a different year with lots of transition, but you are an example of following and obey the Lord and his will for your life. I love you Little Lady!
This year you have been in BCS school in the third grade. So far you have made all A's on your report card. You are so good to complete all your homework without my help or reminding you.
You have several close and dear friends that make life here fun!
You love to play with your PetShops and your American Girl Dolls.
You have been amazing at getting out of your comfort zone and reaching out to the nationals here. You love wearing the national clothing and that opens many doors for us.
You love to eat American Macaroni and Cheese and you are a very picky eater. You will learn soon enough to love the food here!
You love to read!
Happy Birthday Little Lady!!!

We found a really fun place to paint pottery! We wanted to do something fun on our last "free" day before school starts, so this was what we did.

Tonight's Dinner Conversation
Little Man asked if we could have dinner by candlelight tonight. This is the conversation we had as Little Man went to turn off the forgotten light in the back of the house.
Mommy: Little Man you are going to be a romantic when you grow up.
Little Lady: What is a romantic?
Little Man: A romantic is someone who likes to save on electricity.
Hubby and I crack up laughing!
Hubby: I guess I am a big time romantic!
