My mom gave me her very used wonderful bread recipe book! Growing up I have had many wonderful breads from this book! One of my favorite recipes is called Double Quick Dinner Rolls. Depending on how warm your kitchen is, you can have these delicious rolls on the table within 1 1/2 hours!! The way to my husband's heart is with warm homemade bread and butter on the side.
Double -Quick Dinner Rolls
1 package active dry yeast
1 cup warm water (105-115 degrees)
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg
2 tablespoons shortening
2 1/4 cups all-purpose or unbleached flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water in large mixer bowl. Add sugar, salt, egg, shortening and 1 cup of the flour. Beat until Smooth. Stir in remaining flour; continue stirring until smooth. Scrape batter from side of the bowl. Cover; let dough rise in warm place until double, about 30 minutes.
Stir down batter.
Spoon into 12 greased large muffin cups, filling each about 1/2 full.
Let rise until batter reaches tops of cups, 20-30 minutes.
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Bake 15 minutes.
1 dozen rolls.

This looks like a GREAT recipe and I've got a bit of extra time today, so I'm gonna give it a try! Thanks.
I make these,too. Love the easiness of the recipe. I usually make them with whole wheat flour though. Our family EXPECTS these to be on the table at least on Thanksiving and Christmas!
