A Night at the Walking Market

We have a Sunday Market that is open every Sunday.  The locals call it the Walking Market.  You do a lot of walking!  It is actually like an arts and crafts fair. Tonight we went with some friends and they introduced us to the shwarama guy and the waffle gal!  Yummy!  Dinner was amazing.  Here are a few pictures from this evening.

These guys are all blind.  They sit them in the middle of the street and they play for money.  They sound really good too!

This guy was playing the drum with his foot.  :)

 Rocket's favorite spot!

They have these massage places set up all over the place.  Do you see the foreigner posing for the photo?  HA!

 Such a beautiful little girl!

We have no idea who these ladies are, but they are pretty and are wearing tiaras.  We just had to get a picture with them!  :)

The Lord has been gracious and has allowed the rain to be still for three days now!  We are ever so thankful.
Yesterday Hubby went to help a friend move all the appliances and a piano up to the second floor.  (we are expecting more rain...but our God does the unexpected!)
Here are a few picture from their neighborhood...
We cannot get over the laid back smiling attitudes of the Thais!  Everywhere everyone is smiling!

Dogs are going for swims instead of walks these days!

This is the front of our friends house.  The water has gone down about three feet they said.  When they left it was up to this mans waist.

Here is the inside of their house.  There is were we worship together as a group. When this dries out the smell will be bad and the wood is probably all ruined.  They are pretty sure they will have to find a new place to live.  They loved this place too.  We were able to have dinner with them last night and Hubby prayed that the Lord would be glorified in all of this and Christ would be seen our countenance.

We faced with devastation like this I am reminded of this verse...

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

And the floods came up...

Yesterday when we woke up I realized it had rained all night.  It has been raining quite a bit every night this week.  Hubby asked me to take him into work since going in on a motorcycle would not be fun in the rain.  I took him in.  A couple hours later while home schooling the kids Hubby called and asked me to come and pick him back up.  He said they were closing the office down because the river was flooding.  I jumped into the car and head out to get him.  I took my normal route to the office and at one point looked over to my left and the river was right there.  It actually scared me it was so close to the road!

I picked up Hubby and we went home and waited and prayed for no more rain.  The Lord did hold the rains off last night.  This morning several of the men decided to go up the office and see what could be done to ward off the water.  Below are some shots Hubby took during his outing.  I can't even imagine what is in the water.  The news said there have already been several snake bites.  My sweetheart came home so dirty and nasty.  :)

There is a typhoon that is suppose to hit in a day or so and another right after that.

We will filled up with gas today and tomorrow we are going to stock up on drinking water, candles, and some food.  We would love the prayers for the people here and wisdom to know how to help them.

Cheap Flowers

We love fresh flowers.
Especially when you can get all these in the picture above for $3.00!
Sassy and I got a couple hours away at the local flower market one afternoon this week while Rocket played with a friend.
We came home with these.
Just one of the perks of living here! :)

Broccoli Pie Anyone?

Anyone want broccoli pie with their ice cream?

McDonald's doesn't serve hot apple pies here...they serve broccoli and corn pies.  So far I haven't been able to convince anyone in my family to try one!

The Night Safari

Last night we finally went and did some touristy stuff! We were able to get the local Thai price since we now have our Thai driver's license.  We LOVE discounts!!  We have actually been to this before about 2 years ago.  The kids were really excited about going back.  I think the neatest part of this whole safari is that a lot of the animals are ones I have never seen before.  They are amazing!

When you drive in they have tons of deer all over the place. They were in the parking lots and weren't the least bit afraid of us.

The pictures below are from a couple of the train rides we took through the safari.

We watched elephants bathe...the babies would go completely under the water.

Our favorite part of the whole night was this one giraffe.  He was so friendly and hungry!  He ate carrots and bananas we had.

 I love this picture!!

I need a really cool caption for this picture below...

 Enjoying the ride!

This little guy scared us.  He knew we had food and was making himself welcome to it!

We had dinner there as we waited for the laser light show.  It was a typical Thai meal... satay pork and sticky rice meal.  It was delicious!

This picture below is for my mother in law.  She would love all the flowers.  These were beautiful and ones I had never seen before.

We are so blessed to live less than a five minute drive to this amazing place.  We finished the night off with a really neat laser light show over the water there.  Almost like the fourth of July...but not really.  :)

Worms Anyone?

Little Man and Daddy thought it was fun to try meal worms.  Yuck!  They were fried and if someone paid me enough I would probably do it, but no one was offering me a reward and I don't eat disgusting things just for fun.
